Cross Validation for Comparing Multiple Density Estimation Procedures

We demonstrate the consistency of cross validation for comparing multiple density estimators using simple inequalities on the likelihood ratio. In nonparametric problems, the splitting of data does not require the domination of test data over the training/estimation data, contrary to Shao (1993). The result is complementary to that of Yang (2005) and Yang (2006).

Fetus Dose Estimation in Computed Tomography Procedures

Computed Tomography (CT) procedures constitute the 5% of the total diagnostic radiology and provide more than the 40% of the total dose. Patient dose depends on many factors; most of them depend on the way the procedure is performed. All around the world, there is a growing interest in studying patient dose in CT procedures in order to optimize them. If the patient is pregnant, conceptus absorb...

Effective dose estimation for oncological and neurological PET/CT procedures

BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to retrospectively evaluate the patient effective dose (ED) for different PET/CT procedures performed with a variety of PET radiopharmaceutical compounds. PET/CT studies of 210 patients were reviewed including Torso (n = 123), Whole body (WB) (n = 36), Head and Neck Tumor (HNT) (n = 10), and Brain (n = 41) protocols with 18FDG (n = 170), 11C-CHOL (n = 10), 1...

A Graphical Method for Comparing Response-Adaptive Randomization Procedures

Abstract Response-adaptive randomization procedures have a dual goal of estimating the treatment effect and randomizing patients with a higher probability of receiving the superior treatment. These are competing objectives, and no procedure in the literature is “perfect” with respect to both objectives. For clinical trials of two treatments, we discuss metrics for comparing response-adaptive ra...

Nonlinearity of dose-response functions for carcinogenicity.

Carcinogenesis data for 315 chemicals were obtained from the National Cancer Institute-National Toxicology Program (NCI-NTP) bioassay programs and were analyzed to examine the shape of carcinogenesis dose-response curves. Tumor site data were more often consistent with a quadratic response than with a linear response, suggesting that the routine use of linear dose-response models will often ove...
